Notepad++ has a plugin installer built into it now. So first enable the plugin manager as asked by question here, Then follow this step to compare 2 files which is free in this software. Note: You can also just drag Y release files to Notepad++ to open them. ![]() This will open up a new window showing the two files side by side, with any differences highlighted. Then, go to the Plugins menu and select Compare Compare. You can do it by clicking the Proceedings menu and selecting the Open and then select the files you want to open. To compare two files in Notepad++, first open both of them in the application. You can see some text is missing from one line in file2.txt. Now open two files that you want to compare. I clicked and it took me to where the difference was. After running the Compare I saw in the Nav Bar that there were two lines (see the orange arrow in the image above) indicating two differences. In the above I was comparing large files.
